ABOUT US
TD Tree & Land Services Ltd is a long-established family business providing arboricultural services to the commercial and domestic markets. Our professional tree surgeon teams work across southern Scotland and northern England with bases throughout the area, including Edinburgh, Stirling and the Scottish Borders.
Tom Dixon started the company in Edinburgh in 2001. Since then it has grown from humble beginnings to a successful company running a number of independent teams and operating a huge range of equipment, machinery and plant. We are proud that our very first employee is still with the company after 20 years, and that we are one of the only arboricultural practices to employ female tree surgeons.
In 2015 we achieved the Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor Accreditation – the Gold standard for a tree surgery company. We are the only Arb Approved Tree Surgeon in Edinburgh and one of only a few companies in Scotland. Clients
TD Trees provides services to both commercial and public sector clients and homeowners.
Since we became incorporated in 2009 we have won long-term tree surgery contracts with City of Edinburgh Council, Stirling Council, West Lothian Council, East Lothian Council and Forestry and Land Scotland. We also undertake significant site clearance works for many house building firms including, Barratt Homes, Cala Homes, Persimmon Homes, Miller Homes and Muir Construction.
TD Trees has won major tree surveying contracts for NHS Lothian and Amey, ensuring trees within the grounds of hospitals and schools are properly documented and remedial works planned over a defined time period -helping budget forecasting. We have also carried out tree surveys along the length of the A9 for Jacobs, ensuring our major road networks remain safe.
We care equally for our domestic clients, many of whom return to us year after year to make sure their trees and hedges are healthy and look their best.
The Team
Director Tom Dixon (Tech ArborA, BSc Biology) has grown the company from small beginnings to a team of 15 full-time staff, comprising experienced Arborists and Professional Tree Inspectors. We operate across Central Scotland, Edinburgh, the Borders, and north Northumberland. David Balshaw oversees the daily operations, supported by dedicated Team Leaders for each region.
All of our staff are encouraged and supported to develop their skills through training and Continued Professional Development (CPD), including formal qualifications and NPTC certifications. We’re always interested in hearing from aspiring tree surgeons and tree surveyors looking to grow their careers in arboriculture within a highly regarded, safe, and professional company.

We are comprehensively insured, holding cover of £10m Employer’s Liability and £5m Public / Products Liability.
